I could rave on and on about this magnificent country, even after living there for two years. It simply depends on what you wish to do when visiting; from the fabulous eco-diversity, people, cultures, animals, and scenery to the poor, sick and apartheid recovering country = it has it all! It boasts of some of the world’s vast topographical diversity, best variety of National Parks, it truly is a Rainbow Nation. Here are just a few of my favorite things in this ginormous country.
- Hike Table Mountain (take plenty of H2O & allow for a full day)

Cape Town view from Robben Island
- Visit Robben Island where Mandela was in prison
- Do a wine tour (backpackers check your local hostel for discounts)

Cape Winelands
- Cape Point Park (watch out for the babboons, their thieves!)
- Do a township tour to see how the majority of the locals really live

Hanging out in the township
- Visit a bar on the rocks of Kalk Bay
- Hang out with the Jackass penguins at Boulder’s Beach (why do they make that noise again?)
- Live the high life at the V& A waterfront (caution….must have money)
- Drive the Chapman’s Peak coastal road for sunset spectacular views
- Take a rest, you deserve it! Pick a beach, any beach from False Bay to Cape Agulhas…but watch out for the sharks.
Best accommodations located in Muizenberg is the Amberley Travellers Lodge (082.686.1864). Crisp white linens, communal kitchen and bathroom. Travel like a backpacker, sleep like a 5* hotel
