While on a Ecuador vacation, one sees the ubiquitous chicken bus. In this continuing series of Latin and South American camionettas (buses), I bring you the more grown-up and elegant buses of Ecuador. While these babies still shock the system with their Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat paint jobs, they also subdue their travelers in style with more luxurious seating.

If you can’t travel to Guatemala to see their chicken buses a plenty, Ecuador’s are not former American school buses but actual travel couches painted Picasso-esque, so a 8 hour bus ride from Guayaquil to Quito has got to be better on the tush. I’ll let you decide.
