I have traveled a lot over the past 10 years in several forms and fashions, a couple study abroads, a stint as an English teacher, a few 2 week plus holidays and several long-long weekends. One thing I have noticed in this time has been the evolution of my travel book preferences. As a bright eyed and bushy tailed new traveler, the Let’s Go books were my constant companion. You could always spot another American by their well used, dog eared Let’s Go book. But as my experiences grew-up so did my choice in guides. Here is a list of guides that have stayed true to me over the past 10 years and by no means is this list all inclusive. They will be my RTW travel companions.
- Let’s Go great 1st guide, but moved away from this guide as info was increasingly incorrect
- Rough Guides My go-to guide for budget conscience trips over longer periods of time

- Time Out Hip city guides that add a bit of art, culture, shopping, and excitement to your trip. Recommend as a supplement to any other guide you have, Berlin Time Out is great!

- Insight Guides Another visual guide book, took one to Hong Kong and it even had a removable city map
- Moon Guides A book a friend just turned to, she loves the info, the layout and swears by this guide moving forward.
- Fodor’s I love the See It guides, full of color photos and maps in great organized layout. Wonderful for shorter trips. See It Vietnam was a true gem on my 2-week trip

What are some guidebooks you love and will not leave home with out? I will post your suggestion to this article.
This article is not an advertising for these books, just a helpful resource.
