For the past 12 months, I have been blogging about my impending around the world trip or RTW. My original plan was to go with my 2 buds for an action packed 12 month + adventure to sights unseen, but alas plans change and I am now on a solo mission ( any takers?). Since learning of the news of my impending single sojourn, I tossed several ideas of what to do and where to go. Previous plans now must be chucked out the window and a new itinerary formed.
So, on June 10, 2010, I embark to the far off land of Turkey, Istanbul to be more specific. From, there, my plans are to head North through:
- Bulgaria
- Romania
- Ukraine
- Latvia
- Estonia
- Lithuania
- then maybe SE Asia? India? South America?
Much to the chagrin of my mother, I do not know how long I will be gone. Without the mental support of my travel friends, I will wrestle with my own mental fatigues and issues as the days grow into weeks, that grow into months. I guess I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

Wow, you are going to some unusual countries (I mean, not necessarily on the beaten path for RTWers). What made you choose them? Cheaper than western Europe?
